ANC 21: Boundaries

81. Optimistic futurists envision a world without boundaries; an interdependent global society. Write about your personal impression of this idea. (College of Notre Dame of Maryland)

An interdependent global society. What a wonderful idea. What does it suggest? A world where there is no division between countries? A world where there is no competition and war? The optimistic futurists represent their title itself, just "optimistic" that they do not see the oncoming reality. A world without boundaries is a equivocal statement; we have absolutely no idea if the world surely will be peaceful.

A country's patriotism, flag, national anthem shows that having division in the world is helping in instilling the satisfaction in people. Holding different values and traditions, countries cannot be combined altogether.

When I came to India, I was amazed by the wonders of the country India, not by that of part of the world without boundaries. Korea where Kimchi is the national dish and rose of sharon is the national flower is one country I am from. Though I've lived in India for more than half of my life, I am proud to say that Korea is my country. India, on the other hand, where different dishes are the main dishes of different states and lotus is the national flower, diversity flows over that it cannot be compared to any other places in this world. It has its own legacies, histories, and pride.

A world without boundaries will simply mean a huge country without any interest to compete in development, patriotism, tradition, and so on. Besides, with evil side of human nature, I wonder how long this world would continue to be without boundaries.
